The Musée du Quai Branly-Jacques Chirac is giving the public an opportunity to discover the age-old folk art of Wayang Kulit shadow puppet theatre. This is one of Indonesia's oldest theatrical traditions, and it continues to appeal to audiences of all origins and ages. The exhibition presents a rare selection of ancient shadow puppets and uncovers their symbolic meaning and stories. Your guide is the dalang, who is a puppeteer, storyteller, singer and conductor but also a respected figure who serves as the living embodiment of myths and their teachings.
