In addition to its permanent exhibitions, the Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace is putting on a special temporary exhibition from 17th December: Flight. Visitors will discover the secrets behind all that flies, including planes, insects, bats, fish, drones and helicopters. While they all have the ability to soar through the air and share much in common, they also have many diff erences! These similarities and diff erences are presented in an informative

way to audiences of all ages, tracing the evolution of flight through birds large and small (falcons, hummingbirds and the

Andean condor) and their mechanical equivalents (Rafale jets, Concorde and more). Films, model aircraft, taxidermy and multimedia games take visitors on a captivating journey of discovery, following in the footsteps of aviation’s pioneers.

There are four main parts to the exhibition. First, visitors explore the flying species and machines in our skies via a vast circular panorama. They are then taken on an immersive journey through humanity’s conquest of the air, which was based upon our observation of flying creatures. Visitors are, of course, invited to study flight techniques and fundaments, specifically wings, propulsion and control. Aerodynamics, lift, engines, propellers and flight instruments are all presented. Finally, the exhibition closes with a look at the animals and objects which have mastered flight and won its greatest accolades, whether for speed (falcons and Concorde), gliding (condors and gliders), hovering (hummingbirds and helicopters), height (geese and military spy planes), stealth (owls and drones) or weight (swans and the biggest plane in the world).

Visitors of all ages are invited to explore flight via its scientific, biological and technological principles. The exhibition runs until 27 July 2025, and includes access to the museum's permanent collections.
