The Bibliothèque nationale de France

presents its first major exhibition dedicated to the apocalypse. A term that, although a source of fear and uncertainty in Western culture and society for two thousand years, means in its Greek etymology, revelation, unveiling, a meaning taken up by Christians. The exhibition off ers a deep dive into this

imagery from the Middle Ages to the present day and invites the public to discover some of the most prestigious manuscripts of the Apocalypse of John as well as nearly 300 pieces, masterpieces, paintings, sculptures,

photographs, installations, rare books, film excerpts..., by artists such as William Blake, Odilon Redon, Vassily Kandinsky, Ludwig Meidner, Natalia Gontcharova, Otto Dix...
